Case against former Gazipur mayor Jahangir approved
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to file a case against former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Md. Jahangir Alam and chief accounting officer Golam Kibria on charges of embezzling about 7,500 crore taka. The agency’s Director General (Prevention) Akhter Hossain told reporters at the ACC’s head office in Segunbagicha in the capital on Sunday.

According to the ACC, the case has been approved against Jahangir Alam and Golam Kibria on charges of embezzling a huge amount of money from government development and revenue funds through fake tenders and fraud and smuggling it abroad.
The complaint states that Jahangir Alam and Golam Kibria prepared fake tenders and bills in collusion with each other to get work done by their preferred contracting companies. In this process, preliminary investigation has revealed that 7,500 crore taka was embezzled from the development and revenue sectors of Gazipur City Corporation and smuggled it abroad.
